GOOD NEWS SO FAR – DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT RECOMMENDS HERITAGE LISTING OF THE CULTURAL CENTRE !
Some of you may already be aware of the latest development, but for those who don’t here is an update on the Cultural Centre Listing.
On 5 February 2015 the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection recommended to the Queensland Heritage Council that the Queensland Cultural Centre be entered in the Queensland Heritage Register as a State Heritage Place.
The Heritage Council will consider the matter of entry into the heritage register at their 1 May 2015 meeting, they have until 30 June 2015 to make a decision.
The Queensland Heritage Council, an independent statutory body, decides whether a place is or is not entered in the Queensland Heritage Register.
The Heritage Council has the discretion to make a decision which differs from the Department’s recommendation.
A copy of the recommendation is enclosed. If you wish to view public submissions on the application, please email: heritage@ehp.qld.gov.au or phone 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
But the Cultural Centre is not listed yet, let’s hope the Heritage Council takes the right decision. More to follow !
