Percy Everett 1945, Lyons Architects 2006
Percy Everett designed the current building in 1945 after the original building burnt down. The interior was redesigned for the Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) in 2006 by Lyons Architects, creating a welcoming community space reflecting the centre’s therapeutic and restorative justice principles. The NJC is Australia’s first community justice centre, designed to meet the needs of the Yarra community and offer a positive experience of the justice system. It has support services for a range of different needs, a community court, and community meeting space, all in one location.
The winner of multiple awards, the Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is Australia’s first community justice centre, located in the heart of Collingwood.
Join us as we explore the past, present, and future of this site. As you are guided throughout the building you will learn about the building’s architectural history, meet and hear from staff about our world leading examples of community justice and hear how we work together with the local community.
The NJC will host a pop-up in Collingwood Yards, directing people to the NJC.
Prior to your in-person tour, explore the NJC with a virtual tour!
