You’re invited to celebrate the official launch of Modernist Adelaide: 100 Buildings 1940s–1970s – the first book to provide a large-scale survey of Adelaide’s mid-century architecture.
This beautiful new publication by South Australian Emerging Historian of the Year Stuart Symons celebrates 100 examples of Adelaide’s iconic modernist buildings, many of which have featured in his popular Modernist Adelaide tours, presentations and events.
By profiling the architects and clients, specific design features and historical points of interest, Modernist Adelaide: 100 Buildings 1940s–1970s reveals South Australia’s lesser-known but substantial contribution to this architectural revolution.
Enjoy a glass of wine, be the among first to buy a book, and toast the festive season at one of Adelaide’s most elegant modernist buildings, EH McMichael & Harris’ 1954 Post Office branch of the Bank of Adelaide, reinvented as the stylish eatery Crack Kitchen.
Books will be available for sale at this event with card facilities available.
If you’re unable to attend the launch, you can pre-order books now for delivery from 15 December from the Modernist Adelaide website.
