Mid-Century Furniture Restoration Workshop

For the second year running, RBF welcome you to this unique collaboration between the Robin Boyd Foundation & Edwin Fox Furniture. 

Do you have some cherished pieces of mid-century furniture that are in need of restoration? Or maybe you want to improve on your existing skills?

What to expect:

  • Introduction into furniture, design, history & construction
  • Workshop safety & basics
  • Introduction to eco-friendly timber refinishing with natural timber products
  • Overview of finishes, the do’s not dos (varnishes, stains, oils, polishes)
  • Introduction timber restoration; stripping, sanding & refinishing
  • Basic upholstery; webbing, top cover fabric application
  • Aftercare- Q&A
  • Opportunity to explore Walsh Street
  • Tea & Coffee

Presenter: Edwin Fox

Edwin runs Edwin Fox Furniture, an independent restoration and furniture store. Specialising in mid-century, he hopes that through his work to connect the importance of sustainability, and reducing waste while working with inspiring objects from the past.

Edwin has a background in art and design, including a National Vocational Qualification in traditional upholstery. Edwin has channeled his skills and energy into the physical aspects of design, whereby his career has now evolved into the restoration of furniture here in Melbourne.

Terms & Conditions

  • Tickets are refundable up to 72 hours prior to the event
  • Tickets may be transferred to another name, but we must be notified in advance of name changes.
  • Attendees must be 16 years and over.
  • No external food or drink should be brought into the house.
  • Large bags and backpacks will need to be checked in at entry.
