Wright’s Hollyhock House VAE
The Virtual Accessibility Experience (VAE) was developed to increase access to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House. This virtual tour utilizes technology to create immersive and inclusive experiences for visitors of all abilities. It is available both onsite and remotely via a web browser. Hollyhock House is a two-story residence. Many first-floor rooms and the second-floor owner’s room are mobility inaccessible given Wright’s original design. The VAE allows users to experience all spaces on public view (as well as the roof terraces) while retaining the historic architectural features at Hollyhock House.
The VAE was made possible by an award from the Innovation Fund of the City’s Innovation and Performance Commission. This program is a collaboration effort between the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) and Department on Disability (DOD).
