The NSW Minister for Heritage, the Hon. Don Harwin, has resolved to make an Interim Heritage Order for the MLC Building. The Heritage Council of NSW had previously recommended to the Minister that the building be placed on the State Heritage Register but, by placing an IHO over the building, the Minister has decided to allow the Independent Planning Commission 12 months to review the Heritage Council’s recommendation to list the building to assist him in making the decision whether to place the building on the State Heritage Register.
