Join Canberra Modern and Modern House for an exclusive visit to Laurie Virr’s Stornoway House in picturesque Murrumbateman.
Currently for sale, the owners have kindly allowed access to this private home for an exclusive, one-off event to celebrate the work of Laurie Virr.
The Stornoway House is a key example of the Australian ‘organic’ style of architecture. While primarily a style of the mid twentieth century, a period in which Virr was exceptionally active, the home was completed in 1999. Showing that good architecture has no age, Stornoway House employs all of the characteristics and skill that ensures Virr’s work remains unrivalled in the Australian architectural landscape.
After viewing the property, Architect, immediate past National President of the Australian Institute of Architects, mentee and friend of Laurie Virr, Shannon Battisson, will share personal reflections of Virr’s career and his unique approach to design in the Australian context.
Places are very limited and cannot be expanded. Light refreshments provided.
