*** During May, June and July 2026, the Robin Boyd Foundation will engage in a significant project restoring the Boyd House II/Walsh Street facade and front staircase. During this time scaffolding will be present in the front garden and access may be diverted via the side entrance. The residence’s interiors and courtyard access will not be affected by the works. ***
Join us at Walsh Street for the talk Collective Living and Belonging. We will be joined by Jack Chen and Hidy Wong of Tsai Design alongside Alice Edmonds of Sibling Architecture. The conversation will explore collective living and alternative ways of inhabiting the city. Working across adaptive reuse, multigenerational housing, live–work environments, and public housing initiatives, the speakers will discuss how architecture can reveal new forms of sharing within existing urban conditions.
Tsai Design is a small architecture studio based in Geelong, led by Jack and Hidy, working predominantly across Melbourne and Sydney. Committed to making architecture more accessible, the studio creates inventive, liveable solutions for challenging spaces, particularly small or narrow sites, unlocking every project’s full potential.
Sibling Architecture is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in Melbourne and Sydney. The collaborative practice works across residential, civic and commercial projects with a focus on producing socially engaged outcomes. Grounded in a research-driven studio environment, Sibling’s work often extends to self-initiated projects, where architecture and design focus on communication and establishing conditions for inclusion and participation.
This is the last talk from the series “new modes of practice.”
This event is generously supported by Brickworks Building Products, Konpira Maru Wines and Yumbo Soda.
