In 2017 Docomomo Australia objected to Donald Gazzard’s Wentworth Chapel being sold and wrote to the Minister for Heritage (who was also the local member) suggesting that the church be purchased by the NSW Government and used as an adjunct to Vaucluse House (ie as a lecture theatre, meeting place for school tours, etc).
Her Office’s reply is self-explanatory in that the Government had no intention in intervening in the sale and that the chapel and its moveable heritage were protected under the Heritage Act.
