Docomomo Ecuador supports the protection of Hotel Quito constructed in 1959 – 1960. Hotel Quito is already included in the heritage inventory by the Municipality of Quito, however, significant alterations made over time have changed the outer and inner characteristics of the building. Docomomo Ecuador recommends restoring the south wing to showcase the original walls and arches, to recover the initial white color of the exterior visor and overall chromaticity of the complex. The preservation of surrounding gardens and a revision of regulations regarding neighboring properties are among the recommendations published by Docomomo Ecuador and the College of Architects of Pichincha, who are part of the Technical Council of support for the inventory and protection of the real estate of modern architecture from Ecuador, formed and convened by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage through the Institute of National Cultural Heritage INPC.
