ICOMOS / DOCOMOMO 2019 Sydney Talk Series : September 2019
“Along Bauhaus Lines”
Architecture and Design by European Emigres in Aotearoa.
European emigré architects were key vectors for the introduction of Bauhaus ideas to post-war New Zealand. Their Central European training was often at odds with the modernism that was developing here. In the organisations and institutions where they were influential, the Bauhaus was held up as an exemplar to follow.
