The Robin Boyd Foundation is
delighted to announce our upcoming
Vermont Park Open Day Sunday 24th September 2017 10am – 4pm
Built in 1977, Vermont Park was Merchant Builders largest scale development with 43 houses set on a 9.5 acre site, offering a new model for housing in Australia.
Many of the advantages of cluster housing can be seen at Vermont Park through the site planning and landscape design of the site, which includes a central park area, community facilities such as a clubhouse for residents, a swimming pool and barbecue area, all surrounded by houses grouped around access courts.
There are still many lessons we can learn from Vermont Park which are relevant to the housing issues we face today. Multi-purpose shared-use streetscapes, communal facilities, off-site construction and issues of housing affordability, are integrated through a design sensitivity that still remains distinctive 40-years on.
We invite you to explore a selection of the Vermont Park houses and the surrounding landscape on Sunday – 24th September, 2017
